Purpose of the role:

 

Develop new business opportunities in Western USA and work closely with Manager, Western USA and New York based Trade & Industry colleagues to develop and implement an expanded programme of B2B marketing activities in region for island of Ireland industry and market trade to do business.

 

Develop and manage Western USA key trade accounts and identify and cultivate new accounts that will deliver incremental holidaymakers to the island of Ireland, with a specific focus on high revenue leisure travel segments.

 

Note: The post-holder must be willing to travel and work as part of wider Tourism Ireland US team. This job will involve some travel and unsocial hours including evenings and weekends.

 

 

The Duties – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

 

  1. Work with Manager Western USA and Trade & Industry Engagement Manager New York to develop and implement a B2B strategy for the region that flows from the national programme, to deliver an expanded programme of B2B activities nationwide.  
  2. Manage relationships with key accounts located in Western USA including Tour Operators, retail Consortia and Luxury specialists; identify and nurture new accounts that will deliver incremental holidaymakers to the island of Ireland; ensure alignment with national Key Account Management strategy via close collaboration with New York colleagues.
  3. Lead on new business development opportunities across niche product areas including affinity groups, golf, outdoor and soft adventure tour operators, large corporates, and the entertainment industry. Ensure alignment with national US strategy.
  4. Develop and execute an effective B2B marketing and communications plan for the region as part of the wider nationwide programme; provide new platforms for in-market and island of Ireland partner; plan, organise and recruit for events and exhibitions, deliver tailor-made presentations and roll-out collaborative trade activities. Ensure alignment of activities with priority consumer segments.
  5. Act as point of contact for Failte Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland and island of Ireland industry partners for all B2B activity in the region; coordinate Western USA travel trade participation at workshops in Ireland as well as educational/familiarization trips to the island of Ireland.
  6. Work in close collaboration with the Trade & Industry Engagement team in New York and the wider US team to ensure Western USA B2B activity aligns with, and is integrated into, our national programme of activity. Lead and contribute to national projects as required.
  7. Manage and monitor allocated budgets in line with financial procedures and maximise use of resources to deliver against project goals and targets.
  8. Evaluate and report on key performance metrics, drawing insight from the data to ensure continual adjustments and improvements are made across all B2B activities.
  9. Ensure CRM system is up to date and accurately reflects status of all key accounts.
  10. Provide market intelligence to inform management team of regional market conditions, industry feedback, competitive activity, opportunities, and threats.
  11. Ensure adherence to the company’s GDPR compliance policies and procedures in respect of your area of work.
  12. Support and represent Tourism Ireland at industry events, shows, fam trips and corporate functions as required. This role will involve some unsocial hours and travel. Such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require.

 

The Person

 

Essential

 

A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.

This is a commercially focused role and will require in-depth knowledge of the US travel trade landscape, particularly in the Western USA region, along with relevant key account management and B2B sales and marketing experience preferably in the travel and tourism sector.

Excellent working experience and knowledge of business development and key account

management. A record of achievement in working and building relationships with key

Proven experience and track record of achievement in the areas of B2B marketing,

database management and promotions management.

Proven event management experience with strong organisational and presentation skills.

A good team player with strong interpersonal skills, a proven ability to build and manage effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Budget management experience.

A self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a busy, ever-changing environments.

Strong IT skills including MS Office

A commitment to Tourism Ireland’s values and evidence of demonstrating these values in practice

Prior experience working in the Luxury Travel area would be an advantage.
