Director of Sales – California and Arizona

Micato Safaris, voted “#1 World’s Best Tour Operator & Safari Outfitter” by prestigious Travel+Leisure magazine’s readers a record nine times, seeks a dynamic sales person to represent Micato Safaris in California and Arizona. Based in New York City, Micato Safaris operates tours and safaris throughout East Africa, Southern Africa and India, with affiliated offices in Cape Town, Nairobi and New Delhi, India.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for an experienced professional who has excellent relationships with travel agency owners and front line advisors who specialize in luxury travel.  A strong track record of increasing sales is necessary.  The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail oriented and should be a strategic thinker.  Being energetic and passionate about luxury travel is essential.  While the territory includes all of California and Arizona we are looking for a person who currently resides in the Los Angeles area

Criteria for consideration:

The selected candidate will:

  • Have excellent relationships with travel agency owners and front-line travel consultants in California who specialize in luxury travel.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in generating luxury travel sales.
  • Have a minimum of 7 years of sales experience working for a luxury travel provider.
  • Be self-motivated and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Possess strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Be well travelled.
  • Hold a college degree, or higher.
  • Work with other suppliers in the market for joint sales calls and events.
  • Supply references from respected travel industry advisors, agency owners and leaders.


The position requires:

  • Sales calls to travel agencies for 4 days a week.
  • Representing Micato Safaris at industry functions, trade shows, client events, et cetera.
  • Ability to conduct webinars and training sessions
  • Creativity when visiting the same agencies on a regular basis
  • Ability to work with agencies to develop marketing plans to grow their sales
  • Work with agencies to market and sell ad hoc groups
  • Outstanding relationship building skills.
  • Occasional travel to other territories may be required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Power Point as well as Mac.

  • The position is open to local candidates only, no relocation to Southern California.
